2008 Presidential Election
The democratic 2008 presidential election candidate John Edwards told a labor group that he would ask Americans to sacrifice their sport utility vehicles. He feels with the current gas prices that we are willing to do this, and drive more fuel efficient vehicles. It's not believed that this will sit very well with the American voters. With regards to the 2008 presidential election, he states that we can't wait for the next President to end the war in 2009, we must act today. He has issued a comprehensive proposal to end the war, which calls on congress to use its funding power to block President Bush's escalation. He feels they should immediately begin withdrawing troops by capping funding and requiring complete withdraw of all combat troops in the next 12 to 18 months to end the Casualty Iraq War.
