Oprah Winfrey, the most powerful, influential woman in show business hosted a $3 million dollar fundraiser for Barack Obama to assist in the 2008 Presidential Election. Tickets to this private event were sold for $2,300 each, which is within the campaign finance limits.
The event was held outside on her 42 acre estate and no one was allowed in the 23,000 square foot mansion. The guests were subjected to strict security measures and could not bring in cameras or recording devices. The color Apple green, one of Oprahs favorite colors, was the color theme. The guests arriving at the party were transported from an Equestrian center 10 miles away. They all wore apple green armbands allowing them to be bussed to the event. Oprah also wore an apple green blouse that matched the green souvenir "Obama 08" blankets of recycled cotton which was used for the guests to sit on while listening to the speeches and Stevie Wonders performance. The party was a great success with Hollywood stars that included Cindy Crawford, Jimmy Connors, Linda Evans, Chirs Rock, and Sidney Poitier, to mention a few.
Will Oprah Winfreys support and powerful influence get Barack Obama elected in the 2008 presidential election?
